TWO elderly women were brutally attacked by burglars who smashed their way into their homes.
In one attack a 92-year-old woman was left with a broken neck when when she confronted a burglar who knocked her to the ground in her Leeds home.
In the other a 66-year-old woman was dragged by the hair and repeatedly punched after she tried to fight off her attacker. She was found nine hours later by the window cleaner.
The first burglary took place at 6.25 pm on Wednesday. The burglar is believed to have being trying to steal the victim's handbag from her luxury flat in Alwoodley.

Acting Detective Inspector Martin Harrison of Weetwood CID said the attack had left the victim very confused.
He said: "She has described how he tried to get her handbag. Whether she has made a bid to stop him is not clear. We have not been able to get a statement from her because she is too ill."
In the second attack a 66-year-old Leeds woman was dragged by the hair and punched black and blue by a burglar she confronted after he forced his way into her home in the early hours of yesterday.
The attacker left June Munden so badly stunned she was unable to get help for nine hours after the burglar stole her mobile phone before fleeing her home in Armley.
She was
embroidered patches awoken at 3am as the intruder smashed the door open. As she tried to block his way he grabbed her by the hair and scruff of the neck and dragged her screaming back into the living room where he punched her about the head and body.
The badly bruised and shocked pensioner was treated at Leeds General Infirmary.
